Rise Recline Mobility Chairs

Choosing a rise-and-recline chair starts with understanding how the person will use it.

Some shoppers want an adjustable chair for everyday relaxation. Others need assistance moving from sitting towards standing, particularly when an ordinary armchair feels too low or difficult to get out of.

Our collection includes 20 electric mobility rise and recline chairs across Derby, Oliver and Cambridge, with genuine-leather and fabric upholstery choices.

Each chair provides one seating position. The main differences are the chair's shape, dimensions, upholstery, colour and confirmed motor functions.

How Rise and Recline Chairs Assist with Standing

A rise and recline mobility chair combines an electric reclining mechanism with a powered lifting action.

When reclining, the backrest adjusts and the footrest extends to support different resting positions.

When the rising function is activated, the chair lifts and tilts forwards, bringing the seated person closer to standing.

This can reduce the effort required to rise from a low seating position.

However, the chair does not physically support someone once they are standing. The user must still have sufficient strength and balance to complete the movement safely.

Where safe transfers are uncertain, an occupational therapist can help assess suitable seating equipment.

Derby: Substantial Cushioning and Rounded Arms

Derby has a generously padded appearance, with broad armrests and a cushioned backrest.

The Derby Black Fabric Rise & Recline Mobility Chair features woven upholstery and confirmed dual-motor operation.

Derby is available in fabric and genuine leather, allowing you to compare the same range in different coverings.

Oliver: A Narrower External Width

Oliver measures 75 cm wide, making it the narrowest range by external dimensions.

Its taller backrest and padded arms give it a different seating profile from Derby.

The Oliver Genuine Leather Tan Rise & Recline Mobility Chair offers powered lifting and reclining in a warm natural-leather finish.

A narrower external frame may help with room planning, but confirm the internal seat width before assuming it suits the user.

Cambridge: Tall, Sectioned Backrest

Cambridge features a tall, sectioned cushioned backrest and substantial armrests.

The Cambridge Genuine Leather Grey Rise & Recline Mobility Chair includes electric rising and reclining with confirmed dual-motor operation.

Cambridge is available in three genuine-leather colours and three fabric colours.

The backrest's shape may influence how it supports the shoulders and upper body, so check the seated fit rather than relying on photographs alone.

Genuine Leather or Fabric: Which Upholstery Should You Choose?

Both upholstery types are available across Derby, Oliver and Cambridge.

Genuine-Leather Mobility Chairs

The collection includes 11 genuine-leather chairs in Black, Grey, Cream and Tan.

Natural leather provides a smooth seating surface and may develop creasing or subtle changes in appearance through regular use.

It still requires appropriate cleaning and protection from prolonged heat and sunlight.

The term genuine leather does not automatically confirm identical hide coverage on every external panel.

Fabric Mobility Chairs

Nine chairs feature woven fabric upholstery in Black, Grey and Light Grey.

A fabric recliner chair may feel warmer when first seated than a smooth leather covering, depending on the room temperature.

However, woven surfaces can collect dust, crumbs and pet hair around cushion joins.

Routine vacuuming with a suitable upholstery attachment is important.

Neither fabric nor leather automatically guarantees better posture, firmness or long-term comfort.

Colours Across the Mobility Chair Collection

Black and Grey

Black and Grey are available in both genuine leather and fabric across all three ranges.

A black leather electric recliner chair provides a darker, smooth-surface finish, while black fabric offers a woven alternative.

A grey electric recliner chair may coordinate with neutral carpets, wooden furniture and contemporary living rooms.

Compare the material as well as the colour, because the two surfaces feel and wear differently.

Cream and Tan Genuine Leather

Cream and Tan are genuine-leather options within the collection.

A cream electric recliner chair can complement pale furnishings, although darker spills and dye transfer may be more noticeable.

A tan leather electric recliner chair provides a warmer brown-toned appearance that may suit traditional wooden furniture.

Tan is available in Derby and Oliver, while Cream is available across all three ranges.

Light Grey Fabric

Light Grey is available as a fabric finish in Derby, Oliver and Cambridge.

A light grey electric recliner chair can blend with neutral interiors without the stronger visual contrast of black upholstery.

However, lighter fabric may reveal marks more clearly, making cleaning requirements an important consideration.

Seat Measurements: The Most Important Buying Check

An electric mobility chair should fit the person as well as the room.

Start by checking the seat height, internal width, usable seat depth and backrest shape.

The user's feet should reach the floor comfortably when sitting upright. The backrest should support their seated position without forcing them to slide forwards.

The armrests should allow comfortable positioning of the forearms and hands.

A chair that is too wide, deep or high may be difficult to use even when its electric functions operate correctly.

Also confirm the maximum recommended user weight and whether the seat offers sufficient support for the intended person.

Single-Motor and Dual-Motor Reclining

The motor configuration affects how the chair adjusts.

Single-motor designs generally operate the reclining sections through linked movement.

Dual-motor designs can provide more flexibility when positioning the backrest and footrest.

Several Black and Grey Derby, Oliver and Cambridge listings explicitly confirm dual-motor operation.

Other colour variants do not consistently specify their motor arrangement.

Before ordering, check whether the backrest and leg rest operate independently and how the lifting function is controlled.

Handsets, Electrical Power and Everyday Operation

The user should be able to operate the chair's controls comfortably.

Check the handset's button layout, cable position and whether the controls can be reached without leaning awkwardly.

All chairs in this collection require electrical power for normal rising and reclining.

Ask whether your selected model includes emergency battery backup and which functions remain available during a power cut.

Do not assume heating, massage or other specialist functions are included without confirmation.

The chair should be operated according to its manufacturer's instructions.

Make Room for the Reclining and Lifting Mechanisms

A rise-and-recline chair occupies more space during operation than its upright dimensions suggest.

Measure the clearance required behind the backrest, in front of the footrest and around the lifting mechanism.

Keep coffee tables, rugs, loose objects and other furniture outside the moving sections.

Position the chair near a suitable electrical socket without trailing cables across a regular walking route.

If the user has a walking frame, ensure there is sufficient space to approach and leave the chair safely.

Before delivery, measure doorways, hallways, stairs and lifts.

Looking After Electric Mobility Chairs

For fabric upholstery, remove loose dust using a suitable vacuum attachment and blot accidental spills promptly.

For genuine leather, use a soft cloth and cleaning products approved for the specific finish.

Avoid excessive moisture, harsh detergents and abrasive cleaning tools.

Keep liquids away from electrical components and handset controls.

Before operating the mechanism, ensure children, pets and loose objects are clear of the moving sections.

If the chair develops unusual noises or movement problems, stop using the mechanism and contact the supplier rather than forcing it manually.
